Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in Nepal

  • The candidate should have passed 10+2 with Science as a subject (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) with 50% aggregate or secured the percentage equivalent to or above.
  • Age should be at least 17 years by the last date of submitting the application, to apply for the MBBS or BDS course.

Admission process for MBBS in Nepal

There are two possible ways of admission in Nepal –

(A) Entrance Examination conducted by the Medical Education Commission (Similar to NMC in India) or
(B) Direct admission through the NEET score of the current year.

A. Entrance Examination Conducted by MEC:

he students who wish to study MBBS in Nepal, at Government (Public) Colleges such as:

The Candidates need to-

1. Appear in Entrance Examination Conducted by MEC.
2. All candidates should score at least 50% in the entrance examination and qualify for the merit list.

3. The allocation of seats & colleges will be done through “MATCHING Mechanics as per the Merit and priority order selected by the candidate by Medical Education Commission (MEC)

4. Exams are conducted only at the Centers of Nepal so students need to travel to Nepal to appear for the examination conducted by MEC.

B. Directly through NEET Score for Indian Students

1. Students who are looking for direct admission in any of the Private medical can get admission based on the NEET Qualifying score of India.

2. Only the present year’s Academic year NEET score will be considered for admission.

3. The General Category minimum NEET score will only be considered for admission.

4. If Applicants applying through Medical Entrance Examination are compared to Direct NEET Admission, then Priority will be given to such candidates who have qualified Entrance Examination conducted by MEC.

Hostel and Accommodation in Nepal’s Medical Colleges

Mostly, students prefer staying in hostels offered by the college as they are the most affordable and safe option. In general, the hostel rooms are provided on a shared basis, counting basic amenities such as a bed, desk, and wardrobe. Note that all the hostels have AC /Non AC/shared and independent categories of rooms. Based on individual preference and affordability, one can choose accordingly. On the other hand, the cost of a Non AC room on a shared basis approximately would be 700 USD or 60 K INR yearly in most of the colleges.

Medical PG in India or NEXT

During MBBS study, a student realizes the importance of being a specialist. They also understand the competitiveness to secure MD/MS Seat in Govt College. If we look at the success ratio to get PG in Govt Medical College which is 11% Broadly we can say that only 1 out of 10 will get PG Seat whereas the chances of getting a Clinical specialty is 1 out of 20 applicants.
